On 29 October, 2013 in the conference room of the Neurobiology Center of the Nencki Institute Professor Maciej Nałęcz (International Basic Sciences Program, SESAME Council UNESCO) presented a lecture entitled: The role of UNESCO for the scientific community and society at large. Prior to the lecture Professor Andrzej Dżugaj, President of the Polish Biochemical Society (PTB), awarded Prof Nałęcz with PTB honorary membership. Prof Maciej Nałęcz has also been honoured by Professor Adam Szewczyk with a Diplome D’Honneur for services to the Nencki Institute.
