The session of the Scientific Council devoted to the 2016 Annual Report took place on February 24th, 2017. Prof. Andrzej Wrobel commenced the meeting by welcoming the guests.

The selected scientific achievements of the Nencki Institute in 2016 were presented by:

- prof. dr hab. Ewa Sikora - Reactive oxygen species and DNA double break strands in cell senescence-braking paridigms.
- dr Michał Bola - Gamma-band oscillations as a neuronal correlate of conscious states.
- mgr Ilona Kotlewska-Waś - Neural correlates of self-related information processing.

Next dr hab. Ewelina Knapska, prof. Leszek Kuźnicki and prof. Lech Wojtczak were awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 100th anniversary of the Nencki Institute for a special merits in aid of the development of the Institute.

A comprehensive report on the Nencki Institute and Hydrobiological Station in Mikolajki activities in 2016 was presented by the director, Prof. Adam Szewczyk.
